Twitter is different things to different people.  Some, like The BBC and some online video channels, use it as a way to get traffic to their blogs and websites.  Others, use it as a way to get answers to tech support problems.  Others use it to keep in touch, rather than email or IM.

Though there are some people who use Twitter to tell people they are just about to eat their lunch or take the dog for a walk - you don;t need to follow them.  Follow people with similar interests and you can gain lots from Twitter.</description>
