Google has announced that Yahoo are to start using Google‘s AdSense technology for search advertising. You can read the announcement from Google here.
To read the official Google announcement, you could be forgiven for thinking that this is no big deal. One company is simply selling another company the right to use it’s software.
However, these companies are arch rivals!
Yahoo are perhaps the biggest threat to Google‘s total online search advertising dominance. In the United States, The Justice Department are already looking at the problems this kind of partnership could cause. I have long been a supporter of a competitive and open market for search.
