GaryMcKinnon, the UK hacker who managed to hack his way into US government, US navy and NASA computers, has lost his latest attempt to avoid extradition to the United States for trial. This comes as the UK Crown Prosecution Service refused to bring charges against him in the UK.
McKinnon, 42 from north London, faces a possible 70 years in prison, if he’s found guilty in the US. As reported previously, he admits the charges against him, claiming he was looking for proof of aliens and UFOs. McKinnon has recently been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome and his legal team claim he is likely to commit suicide if sent to the US for trial.
Can’t help thinking that he’s gonna face trial in the States. The guy’s mentally ill and needs to be treated, not punished surely?
Danny,
It certainly looks like he’s off for trial in the US. It will be interesting to see how this develops.
