This is funny – Cnet.com Terms of Use

One of our readers sent in the following quote, from one of my favourite websites – cnet.com.  The quote below is from their Terms of Use.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, the integrity, or the quality of the content on our sites, and you may not rely on any of this content.

I’m not sure what it says about the rest of us tech news providers – if one of the most professionally run technology sites on the ‘net, tells us we can’t rely on it!

It says that their lawyers get paid more than your lawyers. :-)

I can confirm you are correct sir. Our lawyers are kept in a darkened cell, just below Tech News Blog Towers and fed on raw meat.

CNet’s content, like even more than this site’s, includes a butt-load of user comments, most from crackpots and ignoramuses. And you’re surprised they’d make a CYA statement?

andhisband. That quote covers the content of the journalists. A disclaimer covering user generated comments is totally different.

Its true that you get some REALLY weird comments on tech blogs.

Hmm, new CBSi terms? In any case I free it sounds like cya for bloggers and user comments. Still hilarious out of context and really broadly written.

      Tom,

The lawyers like to use very broad strokes. Thanks for stopping by the blog!

      Ami,
It really made me smile when I saw it. Sadly though, it needs to be there.
