Thankfully for Twitter, these documents were more embarrassing than damaging – but the fact they were compromised serves as an important lesson for us early adopters!

Twitter is losing too many new users – Neilsen

Research shows that Twitter’s retention rate (the number of new users, who return after a period of 1 month), is below 40%. This is lower than many expected and means Twitter is losing new users almost twice as fast as either FaceBook or MySpace were, when they were at the same stage in their development. CNN announced that it has bought the @CNNbrk user name from a Twitter user, for an undisclosed fee. The account, which currently has almost a million followers is the brain child of London based Developer, James Cox.

Yes, Twitter has been hacked again! This time by a spam worm, known as stalkdaily. The ‘stalkdaily’ Twitter worm carried a pretty harmless payload, yet the security black hole it exploited COULD have been used more maliciously! This is yet another security blunder, for the world’s favourite micro-blogging service.

The new FriendFeed beta – Very impressive!

The new beta of FriendFeed was released yesterday and it’s extremely impressive! There are way too many improvements and new additions for me to cover here, so here are a few of my favourites.

What I have found most useful thus far, is the ability to easily track all the conversations I have taken part in, in real time! I leave a comment in a discussion and am then instantly notified, without having to leave the screen. This makes conversations flow with ease and dramatically improves the overall experience.
